MAPE and County reach agreement on Return to the Office for remote workers
We negotiated an agreement with the County at the Fact-Finding on Friday, April 3rd. The Factfinder suggested in very strong terms that we were able to get the County to agree to more than he would have recommended.
We were able to delay the implementation of three days a week in the office to no earlier than Monday, October 5, 2026, for everyone not now on a three day a week or more in-person schedule with the exception of HHS employees. The beginning date for HHS is no sooner than Monday, January 4, 2027. The date is later for HHS because of challenges due to limited office space. The Factfinder all but told us he would have recommended the first week in September.
We were also able to strengthen the language about ergonomic equipment and reasonable accommodations. The County also agreed to increase the amount it pays for Ride Green benefits.
Though the agreement is not perfect, had we not reached one, we believe the County would have eventually implemented what it wanted, which was an earlier effective date, potentially much earlier, than October 2026 and January 2027.
