Esau Hernandez has been a union member for the past 33 years with UFCW, Teamsters, and CWA. He began his career as a warehouse worker at the Safeway Distribution Center in Tracy, Ca. and there he learned the importance of being in a Union member. He became a shop steward then helped out in Organizing campaigns to later being asked to join the staff of Teamsters Local 439 as their full time organizer and political coordinator. As he was getting more involved in politics he became the Secretary Treasurer of the San Joaquin/Calaveras County Central Labor Council. He later started working for SEIU 1021 as a Field Representative and is now very happy to join the team here at MAPE as a Senior Union Representative/Organizer.

Kevin Felton first learned about the importance of a union growing up in a family with multiple union members. While in college, Kevin began his journey into labor activism by getting involved with the Student Labor Action Project and the Youth and Young Adult Action Network of the National Farmworker Ministry. Motivated by his passion for labor, Kevin attended graduate school where he became a union member for the first time with UAW Local 2322 as a graduate student worker. He started organizing with graduate student workers around a multitude of issues, including preparation for bargaining. Since then, he has organized various groups across California, including CSU faculty, hotel workers, nurses, and now county employees. Kevin is glad to be a part of MAPE and is looking forward to organizing with members in Marin County.
